We're big fans of both baseball and Atlanta's history, so we could think of no better way to combine the two.
This was a minor league team that existed from 1901 until 1965 and were Atlanta's home team until the Braves moved to town in 1966. Playing first in an all-wood stadium off of Ponce De Leon, which burned down in 1923, then a brand new concrete and steel stadium in the same location. The new construction was built around a magnolia tree that spent many years in the deep center outfield. During exhibition games both Babe Ruth and Eddie Matthews hit home runs that became stuck in the tree.
The design itself comes from a printed program that we have from the late 1930's. We think it's a fun way to show a little of Atlanta's long and storied sports history.
