Barbican Hard Leather Messenger Bag
Brooks England has a long and storied history dating back to 1865 when founder, john Boultbee Brooks, left his hometown of Hinckley in Leicestershire with just £20 in his pocket. He headed to Birmingham and in 1866 he established a business in horse harnesses and general leather goods in Great Charles Street under the name JB Brooks & Co. In 1878, the unfortunate death of Mr Brooks’ horse led to a stroke of inspiration. Unable to afford another horse, he borrowed a bicycle in order to commute to work. He found the seat so uncomfortable that he vowed to do something about it and in October 1882, Mr Brooks filed his first saddle patent and his brand was officially born.
Since those days the name Brooks has become synonymous with quality in the cycling world, each piece wrought by hand from the finest leathers and components available. In the last decade, the original slogan 'Saddles, Bags, Etc’ has been adopted again and has given way to a new chapter for the company, featuring some of the best values in cycling/lifestyle luggage on the market.
The Leather Barbican is manufactured in England using the same hardwearing leather used for Brooks Saddles. The bag features an adjustable shoulder strap that can be easily secured around the waist. The strap can be worn loose to carry the bag over the shoulder while walking. Then, for increased comfort while riding, the two ends of the strap can be pulled together around the waist and fixed as a ‘Sam Browne’ belt.
Their bags are truly utilitarian products that looks like nothing we've ever seen. That is something we can really appreciate and we think you will too.
