Lapis Lazuli is a celestial blue stone with tiny flecks of gold pyrite that has been prized since the Neolithic age. The stone has been used in many revered settings including the decoration for Tutankhamun’s funeral mask to the pigment in the ultramarine paint used in Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’.
